FIFA makes its decision on Iran's World Cup application

The location for the Iranian National Team's 2026 FIFA World Cup training camp has changed. The camp, which was previously scheduled to be held in the United States, has been moved to the city of Tijuana on the Pacific coast of western Mexico following a new decision.

Mehdi Taj, President of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, evaluated the developments regarding the camp as follows: "The training camps for teams participating in the World Cup must be approved by FIFA, and thankfully, considering the requests we made, the meetings held with FIFA officials and World Cup organizers in Istanbul, as well as the webinar we held yesterday with the FIFA Secretary General, the request to move the camp from the USA to Mexico has been approved."

The decision to change the camp center became official following FIFA's approval. Iranian players will carry out their final preparations in Mexico before the World Cup.

Currently, the national team is continuing its training camp in Antalya to prepare for the tournament. The camp in Antalya will continue until June 5. During this period, the team will play friendly matches against Gambia on May 29 and Mali on June 4.

The final 26-man squad determined for the 2026 World Cup will be announced on June 1. Iran, which will participate in the tournament jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, will prepare to play its first match in the major event after completing its preparations at this new camp.
