FIFA will bring the change regarding the trophy awarded to World Cup champions to the agenda at its congress to be held in May.

The trophy awarded to the champion team in the World Cup, which was first held in 1930, was last changed in 1974. The same trophy has been used in the Women's World Cup since 1991.

FIFA is preparing to make a change starting with the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by 3 countries.

In a report by the Spanish press outlet AS, it was noted that FIFA will present the change regarding the World Cup as a proposal. It was conveyed that the plan is to award a single trophy for the World Cup instead of two different trophies for the two tournaments.

FIFA's 74th congress will be held in Bangkok on May 17.
