FIFA publishes mid-season transfer window report
A total of 4,716 transfers were completed during the 2023/24 football season's mid-season transfer window, setting a record compared to the previous year. Clubs paid 1.46 billion dollars for these transfers, marking the second-highest spending mid-season transfer window on record.
World football's governing body FIFA has published its report for the 2023/24 mid-season transfer window.
The report states that 4,716 transfers took place during the mid-season window. It was reported that clubs spent a total of 1.46 billion dollars on these transfers.
It was noted that there was a 0.6 percent increase in the number of transfers compared to 2023, while there was an 8.2 percent decrease in spending.
Despite the decline in spending, it was stated that the 2023/24 football season's mid-season transfer window was the second-highest spending period on record.
HIGHEST SPENDING FROM FRANCE
It was stated that French clubs spent a total of 291.9 million dollars during the mid-season transfer window, which is double the amount spent in the previous period.
It was also noted that English teams experienced an 80 percent decrease in mid-season transfer spending compared to January 2023.
