Flash statement from TFF regarding the Super Cup crisis! Will Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray take the field?
The Turkish Football Federation has issued a statement following reports of a crisis regarding the national anthem and an Atatürk banner ahead of the Super Cup final to be played between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray.
It has been alleged that a "National Anthem" and "Atatürk banner" crisis occurred ahead of the Turkcell Super Cup match to be played this evening between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
It was stated that the Saudi government officials who imposed the ban directly told both clubs that they were "speaking on behalf of the King" and prohibited both the shirts and the banners.
It was learned that Saudi officials did not allow the teams to take the field with a banner featuring Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's quote "Peace at Home, Peace in the World," and that both clubs were uncomfortable with the situation and were still in negotiations with the authorities.
NATIONAL ANTHEM WILL BE PLAYED
It was stated that the allegations that the playing of the National Anthem was not permitted are not true.
STATEMENT FROM TFF
The statement made by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) regarding the crisis ahead of the Super Cup match to be played in Saudi Arabia is as follows:
"The Super Cup match will begin in the presence of our Turkish Flag, with 100th Anniversary Celebration events, a moment of silence for our martyrs, and our National Anthem to be performed by the artist Norm Ender."
