From Beşiktaş to the TFF: We are watching with concern and taking note
Beşiktaş Club issued a statement regarding the penalties imposed following the incidents in the Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe match, criticizing the TFF and stating, "We are watching the changing of rules based on individuals and clubs with concern for the sake of Turkish football, and we are taking note."
In a statement made by the black-and-white club regarding the matter, it was said, "There has never been another period in Turkey where sports law has been so devalued, where it has lost its standards, and where trust in justice has disappeared.
Based on the reality that the number of matches is increasing day by day and fixtures are intensifying, decisions in modern sports law must be taken quickly. Decisions must be determined according to correct and universal standards. Unfortunately, our federation lacks the ability to ensure trust with the decisions it has taken on this matter.
"IT HAS COMPLETELY ELIMINATED TRUST"
The federation that gave a 6-match ban to one of our athletes in one night by changing the rules through lip-reading, and that gave a penalty to one of our athletes for removing a fan who entered the pitch to protect his friend, is the same federation that issued the known penalties after the incident-filled match that has occupied the country's agenda for 15 days.
Turkish football has had to pay the price for handling the events experienced in the Josef de Souza incident with a general, careless disregard—instead of examining them by considering the wear and tear the game might suffer in the future, establishing precedents, and updating sports law according to developing conditions—with an inextricable chaos.
Decisions taken late and disproportionately compared to the past have completely eliminated trust that justice can be established for the future. We are watching the changing of rules based on individuals and clubs with concern for the sake of Turkish football, and we are taking note," it was stated.
