Galatasaray's move for Mauro Icardi following PFDK decision

Galatasaray has filed an appeal with the Arbitration Board for Mauro Icardi, who was given a 1-match suspension by the PFDK, and has called the board to an extraordinary meeting. In its defense, the club cited the penalty previously given to Kocaelispor player Oğuz Ceylan as a precedent.

Galatasaray's defense example is as follows:

"Kocaelispor player Oğuz Ceylan was referred to the PFDK under Article 36 of the Football Disciplinary Instructions (UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT) due to a hand gesture he made towards opposing team fans during the Sakaryaspor - Kocaelispor match played on 23.12.2023, and was only fined 10,000 TL. Mauro Icardi, on the other hand, was referred to the PFDK under Article 41 of the Football Disciplinary Instructions (ATTACK ON PERSONAL RIGHTS, INSULT, THREAT, AND SPITTING) due to an alleged gesture made during the Ankaragücü match, and was sentenced to a 1-match suspension and a fine of 19,500 TL."
