Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek gives a harsh response to Koç and Yıldırım
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek gave a harsh response to the remarks made about him by Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç and presidential candidate Aziz Yıldırım.
Last night, a meeting took place that shattered ratings records. Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and Fenerbahçe Presidential Candidate Aziz Yıldırım met on Habertürk. The duo, who met before the Fenerbahçe presidential election, targeted Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek during the broadcast.
Making statements to members of the press at Galatasaray High School, Dursun Özbek gave a harsh response to Koç and Yıldırım.
Özbek stated that Yıldırım and Koç were engaged in a "petty squabble" on live television, saying, "Mr. Aziz said something about a duo or whatever, but he is not even in the mix. The things said by that rich kid from the mansion caught my attention. He should be very careful. He should think twice before taking the name of the Galatasaray President into his mouth. Mr. Ali should know his place. Being a rich kid who grew up in a mansion does not justify speaking with such insolence."
Stating that sports fans watched a broadcast that provided no benefit to Turkish sports, Özbek said, "I think the broadcast didn't even end on time; it was cut off. It is very interesting that at one point in the broadcast, Ali Koç can address Kasımpaşa President Fatih Saraç by saying, 'Fatih, put on the tape.' It seems there is a habit from the past, for him to be able to address someone in this way."
When asked whether Koç and Yıldırım were targeting him due to Galatasaray's successes, Özbek noted the following:
"Two unsuccessful presidents spoke. They cannot be successful with these attitudes; it is impossible. They will continue to experience Galatasaray's successes. The series of successes of Galatasaray has upset their balance. We watched their congress. Profanity, insults, attacks. We saw what kind of a congress it was. There are two presidential candidates; one leaves the stadium, the other speaks alone. The Turkish public should interpret this. My advice to them is to come and visit the exhibition we opened here. Half of the athletes who went to the 1924 Paris Olympics, one year after the founding of the Republic, were either graduates or students of Galatasaray High School. They would learn who Turkey's greatest sports club is."
Explaining that they are preparing the infrastructure to exit the Banks Association of Turkey, Özbek stated that he had brought up the issue of exiting the Banks Association of Turkey 6 years ago, adding, "Some friends are just realizing it now. This shows Galatasaray's perspective."
When asked, "Jose Mourinho said, 'Rafa Silva is close to Galatasaray.' What is your comment?" Özbek replied, "Our transfer efforts are continuing; we actually started a long time ago. We plan to finish as soon as possible. We are making a great effort to have them ready for the training camp period."
