Galatasaray wins the tense derby: Cards flew everywhere
Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray faced off in a massive derby played in the Ziraat Turkish Cup quarterfinals.
Galatasaray took the lead in the 10th minute of the match played at Ülker Stadium. Finding the ball that deflected off Çağlar Söyüncü, Victor Osimhen slipped past Milan Skriniar and shook the net with a powerful strike from the right side of the penalty area, putting his team ahead 1-0.
In the 26th minute of the match, Galatasaray won a penalty. After a VAR review regarding a handball by Filip Kostic during Kaan Ayhan's shot inside the penalty area, referee Cihan Aydın pointed to the penalty spot.

Victor Osimhen, who stepped up to take the penalty, sent the ball into the net despite a touch from İrfan Can Eğribayat, scoring his and his team's second goal to bring the score to 2-0.

'Cimbom' came very close to a third goal in the 43rd minute. Çağlar Söyüncü made a move on Barış Alper Yılmaz's shot, sending the ball, which was heading for the net, out for a corner.

In the 45+1st minute, Fenerbahçe narrowed the gap to 1. Szymanski slid in to finish a ball that goalkeeper Günay had touched following a shot by Talisca, who had moved behind the defense from the left side of the penalty area after a pass from Kostic. Although the goal was initially disallowed due to offside, the score became 2-1 after a VAR review.

The first half of the match ended with Galatasaray leading 2-1.
In the 80th minute, Galatasaray came very close to scoring. Barış Alper Yılmaz's shot from a tight angle on the right side of the penalty area hit the post.
POLICE ENTERED THE PITCH
Tensions rose in the final moments of the match. Due to the tension between the two benches, security forces entered the pitch to intervene in the incidents. The game was stopped in the 89th minute due to the events.
Match referee Cihan Aydın showed red cards to Kerem Demirbay and Barış Alper Yılmaz from Galatasaray, and to Mert Hakan Yandaş and Salvatore Foti from Fenerbahçe.

VITAL INTERVENTION
After the situation was calmed, the match resumed.
Fenerbahçe came very close to an equalizer in the 90+12th minute. Davinson Sanchez made a very critical intervention on a lobbed shot by Milan Skriniar that was heading for the net, ensuring the score remained 2-1.

MATCHED WITH KONYASPOR IN THE SEMI-FINALS
Managing to maintain their lead for the remainder of the match, Galatasaray left the field with a 2-1 victory and advanced to the next round.
Galatasaray will face Konyaspor in the semi-finals.
