Galatasaray's Osimhen makes a striking confession about Fenerbahçe

World-famous striker Victor Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray's squad on the final day of the transfer window, made statements to the Yellow-Reds' YouTube account.

The Nigerian striker, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, drew attention with his confession about Fenerbahçe and his remarks regarding Mauro Icardi.

Speaking about Istanbul, Victor Osimhen said, "Istanbul is incredible, of course. It's a very big city; I didn't know that. Most importantly, the Galatasaray fans make this city wonderful. It is a great city for me, my family, and my friends, and I am very happy. Istanbul is one of the most beautiful cities in the world."

"DROGBA IS ONE OF THEM"

When asked "What did you know about Galatasaray?", Victor Osimhen replied, "There were many players I had been following since I was a child. Drogba is one of them. Onyekuru and Etebo had also played here before. I knew the atmosphere was good. I had actually seen it on the internet, but what I saw in reality was much more magnificent; what I saw here was wonderful."

"I am not saying this because I am a Galatasaray player and play here, but when I look at it objectively, the fans make this place incredible. I have always said this and I will continue to say it; the fans are very passionate and this is a very big family," he replied.

Emphasizing that he watched Galatasaray's matches last season, Victor Osimhen said, "I had watched a few Galatasaray matches last season. I had also watched some during the time of Onyekuru. Apart from that, I had watched the championship celebrations he was a part of. I knew there was a great atmosphere. I also watched last season because of Mertens. He is someone I love very much."

"I WAS VERY EXCITED IN MY FIRST MATCH"

Making statements regarding Dries Mertens, Victor Osimhen said, "If I had to describe Mertens in one word, it would take a long time. We spent quite a bit of time together. He motivated me with the talks he gave. Both he and his family are very valuable to me."

Describing his first match playing for Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen said, "I was very excited during my first match. When I took my first step onto the pitch to warm up, all the fans started chanting my name and applauding. This made me feel at home. It was wonderful to feel that we were together with them, on the same side. I feel very good when I see their support."

Commenting on Yunus Akgün's performance, Victor Osimhen said, "Yunus Akgün is a great player. I actually didn't know he played at Leicester. I asked him, 'Did you play there?' and he said 'yes.' He was also very good against Fenerbahçe. He is an incredible player. I am incredibly happy that he is my teammate."

"ICARDI IS ONE OF THE LEGENDS"

When asked about Mauro Icardi and Michy Batshuayi, Victor Osimhen replied, "I have known Mauro Icardi for years, even before he came to Galatasaray. He is one of the legends. I think we will learn things from him. What he does to score goals, his assists. He will help us a lot. Batshuayi is the same. The three of us will do our best for the team this season."

Stating that he spoke with Okan Buruk before coming to Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen said, "The coach is the key to me coming here. We spoke one day before I arrived. He explained his plans and what he wanted to do to me. He has been constantly supporting me since the day I arrived here. He is a wonderful person. He encourages me a lot. He is someone who has played this game and knows it very well. He gives me self-confidence in every conversation we have."

Victor Osimhen responded to the question, "You came here as a footballer worth 100 million euros. Does this affect you?" with the following words:

"No, it doesn't affect me. I am more than that. There are other players in the world like me, who have achieved this style and success. It's actually about my characteristics in football, what I do, and my quality. So, I think I deserve it."

I am aware of how I can contribute and what I can do. It doesn't affect me much in my private life either. People say different things. I mean, there are those who say 15 million, and those who say 100, 120, or 150. Everyone has a different opinion."

FENERBAHÇE DERBY

The Nigerian forward also spoke about the Fenerbahçe derby.

"I think Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray is one of the toughest derbies," said Osimhen, continuing as follows:

"What we saw before the match was not normal. There was an incredibly high level of passion. I thought this was beyond football. I was optimistic before the match.

I didn't go there thinking we might lose or that a draw would be enough. We were there for three points. The coach also told us that we needed to focus and that it was an important matter."
