Jose Mourinho takes a swipe at Galatasaray following Alanyaspor victory

Fenerbahçe hosted Alanyaspor at home in the 4th week of the Süper Lig.

The Yellow-Navies left the pitch with a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Dusan Tadic (2) and Edin Dzeko.

With this result, Fenerbahçe has increased its point total to 10.

Yellow-Navy team's head coach Jose Mourinho evaluated the victory after the match.

Speaking to beIN Sports, here are Mourinho's statements:

"I DID NOT LIKE THE FIRST 15-20 MINUTES OF THE SECOND HALF"

"Like everyone else, I am celebrating today with respect. I congratulate the entire Turkish nation on the 30 August Victory Day. We deserved the win today, but I did not like the first 15-20 minutes of the second half very much. I knew it would not be easy to maintain the pressure we applied in the first half for the full 90 minutes. We experienced a bit of a drop in the second half. When you experience such a drop against a team that likes to play with the ball and hold possession, you give them a chance to survive. But after we found the second goal, we finished the game."

"WE WORKED ON THIS PRESS ALL WEEK"

"The team has developed in terms of tactical football culture. This means the team's ability to execute different things and plans has improved. I had watched our opponent in the Başakşehir match and saw how much they love to build up play and keep the ball. Therefore, we worked on this press all week. We took a lot of risks while applying this pressure. We left our defensive line in man-to-man situations many times. We wanted our game to be this way. It is unfortunate that we could not score more goals in the first half. The match could have actually ended in the first half. In the second half, we gave them a chance to come back to life, and they created problems for us."

"SINCE OUR PRESIDENT KNOWS WHAT KIND OF PERSON I AM, HE DID NOT GIVE ME INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRANSFER BEFORE THE MATCH"

"Our president and our directors know what kind of person I am. Therefore, they did not give me information about this transfer (the Amrabat transfer) before the match. Because they knew that my only focus was the match. Now the match is over, they will give me information about this transfer. But one thing I know is that I have a good team, I have a good squad."

"I CONGRATULATE THE REFEREE"

"There was a very young referee on the pitch. He is truly a very good character. He made good and correct decisions. He maintained control of the game well. He was correct with the yellow cards. I congratulate him."

In the post-match press conference, Mourinho also took a jab at their arch-rivals, Galatasaray.

"WE APPLIED INCREDIBLE PRESSURE IN THE FIRST HALF"

Stating that they spent a lot of their energy in the first half but did not get the reward for it, Mourinho said, "We burned a lot of fuel in the first half; we didn't have the same strength in the second half. We applied incredible pressure in the first half and won the ball very high up the pitch. We needed to kill the game in those moments. We should have scored the 2nd or 3rd goal, but when you go into the break at 1-0, your fuel runs out. The second goal came during a very difficult period for us, and after that, the match was already over. We took a lot of risks today. Djiku played like a midfielder rather than a center-back. We took many risks, and I thought these risks would resolve the match faster, but that didn't happen; the first half ended 1-0."

"FERDI'S SPIRIT WAS NOT HERE"

Stating that they made the transfers together with the management, Mourinho continued as follows:

"These are not my players, nor the president's, nor Acun's, nor Branco's. These are Fenerbahçe's players. The technical decision belongs to me, but our sporting director also has an opinion, of course, and he expresses it. Then the sporting part of the business begins. I have a good relationship with the president. Right now, it is not just a president-coach relationship; it goes even further than that, which is how it should be. No player I did not want was signed. They respect me a lot."

"If you are asking if I am making demands of the management, the answer is no. I am happy, very happy. We lost a great player, but in reality, we didn't. The club did not want to sell him; they even made a great offer to keep him. If Ferdi had accepted, he would have been one of the highest-paid full-backs in Europe, but he wanted to leave. His body was here, but his spirit was not. It was possible to tell from the matches he played. He is a very good player. A smart and pragmatic decision was made. A great player has left our team, but he was already not here. I believe in the players I have. I had asked if we had a chance to sign one more midfielder, which has not been completed yet. If this results positively, I will be happy."

"SOME OF OUR PLAYERS WILL HAVE TO BE LEFT OUT"

Reminding that they need to submit a list to UEFA, the experienced coach stated, "Our quota has decreased. We will not be able to fill the club-trained player quota. We were using Ferdi and our 3rd goalkeeper for this. Some of our players will have to be left out. We need to improve this for the future. The management has put in a great effort to build a good squad."

"EN-NESYRI ARRIVED INJURED"

Stating that En-Nesyri is a wonderful player, Mourinho said, "En-Nesyri arrived injured. He joined the team late and arrived without being fit. Our team had been working intensely on tactical aspects. The players who continued their training before he arrived were more ready than him. He is coming along gradually. We have En-Nesyri, Dzeko, and Cenk Tosun in the team. We are very strong in this regard, and that makes me happy."

Jose Mourinho stated that Galatasaray is the only team in Turkey that does not receive yellow cards.

"IT IS NOT JUST GALATASARAY THAT RECEIVES CARDS IN TURKEY"

Explaining that they aim to play more than 50 matches this season and that they will need every player under these conditions, Mourinho stated the following:

"I hope we play more than 50 matches this season. I hope so, and I think that will be the case. When that happens, you need the team and all the players. There are injuries and suspensions during the season. In Turkey, it's not just Galatasaray that receives cards, but other teams do as well. There will be international breaks, and players usually return from these in poor condition. The best way to protect them is through rotation. We started the match with Tadic, Dzeko, and Maximin in the front line, but then İrfan Can, En-Nesyri, and Cenk played. We have this variety, but we had deficiencies in the midfield. Since Krunic and Zajc did not fit my ideas, we had a shortage there. Now we are bringing in players for that position. We cannot say Amrabat is for İsmail or Fred's position; we play with three midfielders. We will have a good squad."

Mourinho concluded his remarks regarding the match referee by saying, "The referee is 30 years old and is truly at a very high level; I congratulate him."
