Speaking at the Association of Lawyer Fenerbahçe Fans in Ankara as part of his election campaign, Ali Koç made a striking statement about former president Yıldırım following a comment from a congress member who asked, "Do those who support Aziz Yıldırım want the system to continue?" Koç stated:

"I didn't say anything like that. I didn't say it to keep the system going. I said the hostility towards us is about the struggle we waged against the system and the values we defend. But let me say this as well. I am trying to choose my words carefully. President Aziz has had more contradictory statements regarding the organization leader after 2013. My line is the same; it might be wrong, it might be right, but my line is the same. I don't go back and forth like this. We have a line. President Aziz is someone who attaches great importance to republican values. We also went through his training. Fenerbahçe also has a stance on these issues in its DNA. Unfortunately, over time, this stance of ours was dragged into politics. Because republican values have become a material for political debate. Not for us. We are not doing politics or anything like that."

These remarks by Ali Koç targeting Aziz Yıldırım became a hot topic on social media. Some Fenerbahçe fan accounts shared the debate Koç had with Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı in 2022 regarding Aziz Yıldırım, reacting by saying, "Ali Koç has made the same statement today that he reacted to when Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı said it in 2022."
