His remarks made headlines: Criminal complaint filed against Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç!
Following the statements made by Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç during a press conference, the Galatasaray Lawyers Association has taken action. The association announced that a criminal complaint would be filed against Koç.
As the championship race between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe continues in the Süper Lig, statements made by the clubs continue to heighten tensions.
Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç targeted his arch-rival Galatasaray during a press conference, making remarks that are set to be widely discussed.
SCATHING WORDS FROM ALİ KOÇ
“Galatasaray is an existential threat to Turkish football,” said Koç, adding, “The agenda has been dynamic lately, with intense allegations and slanders. In fact, the subject of this meeting will be our rival. The level to which our rival's president and executives have stooped is now reminiscent of a slaughterhouse. I will explain how Galatasaray is an existential threat to Turkish football. I will show with statistics what kind of imaginary scenarios the Galatasaray president and executives produce to achieve what they want. I will share how the mentality that 'everything is permissible to win' has become a culture for this club.”
While the response from Galatasaray Sports Club to Koç's statements was swift, the Galatasaray Lawyers Association also took action.
In a statement released by the association, it was announced that a criminal complaint would be filed against Ali Koç on the grounds of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting them."
Here is the statement made by the Galatasaray Lawyers Association;
"We have followed with concern the TV show of Fenerbahçe SK President Ali Koç today and his baseless remarks directed at our community.
'TO MAKE PEOPLE FORGET REFEREE DECISIONS'
We are aware that these are done to make people forget his failure and scandalous referee decisions, stemming from a years-long Galatasaray complex.
We reject the mentality that stops at nothing to change the agenda and put pressure on upcoming matches, viewing every path to success as permissible.
'WE WILL FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT'
Galatasaray Sports Club and its community have always remained on the pitch and fought within the framework of moral and ethical rules. Those who think they can harm this century-old institution with baseless claims and labels will only be left with their own delusions.
We hereby inform the public that we will file the necessary criminal complaint against Ali Koç, who has committed the crime of inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting them under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) with his remarks directed at the Galatasaray community, and that we will follow the matter closely."
