Host for the 2031 Men's World Cup announced

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, will host the 2030 tournament from November 26 to December 8. In France, the cities of Lille, Lyon, and Paris will host the World Cup from August 29 to September 14, 2031, with the final phase to be played in Paris.

FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis stated regarding the matter, "One of the most important reasons why FIBA World Cups are remembered for their success is that the right host is chosen every time. This forms the cornerstone of our mission to make basketball the most popular sports community. The FIBA Central Board has decided that the bids from both the Japan Basketball Association (JBA) and the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) meet the high standards we expect from a World Cup host and has entrusted them with this great responsibility. Japan and France are two countries that love basketball, and they are two extremely popular destinations for our fans, players, and business partners. However, what truly excites us for 2030 and 2031 is that rare quality these two countries possess, which makes events unforgettable: their ability to combine excellence with their own unique, local touches."
