Indictment prepared in attack on Halil Umut Meler: 4 suspects including Faruk Koca

The Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared an indictment regarding the attack on the referee during the Ankaragücü-Rizespor match. 4 suspects, including Faruk Koca, will stand trial.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated in his announcement on the matter, "The investigation has been completed, and the case has been filed."

In the indictment, the suspects are charged with "intentional injury resulting in bone fracture in a sports area due to the public duty performed by the person, threats, and entering prohibited areas," while a spectator ban has been requested for all suspects in accordance with Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports.

The indictment is as follows:

"The investigation, which was conducted meticulously and in all its details by our Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the events that occurred after the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor Trendyol Super League football match, has been completed;

1- Regarding the detained suspect F.K., for the crimes of “intentional injury resulting in bone fracture in a sports area due to the public duty performed by the person, threats, and entering prohibited areas,”

2- Regarding the detained suspects K.Ç. and Ş.Y.Ş., for the crimes of “intentional injury resulting in bone fracture in a sports area due to the public duty performed by the person, and entering prohibited areas,”

3- Regarding the suspect O.E.C., who entered the field as a result of reviewing the footage and attempted to kick the match referee but failed to make contact, with the act therefore remaining at the attempt stage, for the crimes of “attempted injury due to the public duty performed by the person and entering prohibited areas,”

an indictment has been prepared for the Ankara West 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance with the request that they be punished.

A spectator ban has been requested for all suspects in accordance with Article 18 of Law No. 6222.
