İsmail Kartal speaks after Olympiakos match: The public doesn't know these things
Fenerbahçe manager İsmail Kartal made statements after the team's 3-2 away loss to Olympiakos in the UEFA Conference League.
The UEFA Conference League quarter-final excitement continues. Our only representative in the tournament, Fenerbahçe, faced Olympiakos in Piraeus. The yellow-navy team left the pitch with a 3-2 defeat.
Speaking to members of the press after the match, Fenerbahçe manager İsmail Kartal stated that they conceded simple goals at the beginning of the match and said: "Ultimately, we came here for an advantageous score, or even to return with a win. We had clear goal-scoring opportunities but couldn't capitalize on them early in the match. Towards the end of the first half, despite having control, we conceded simple goals. We had some discussions to turn the situation around in the second half. The third goal was also simple. Despite this, we didn't give up on the game. With the changes I made by taking risks, we could have even won the match 4-3. We were planning to return to Istanbul with at least a draw. But we reacted from 3-0 to 3-2. I believe we will advance in Istanbul."
THE PUBLIC DOESN'T KNOW THESE THINGS
İsmail Kartal also touched upon the injuries within the team, saying: "We have some injured players. The public doesn't know these things. I am the one who lives and breathes with these men. We talk to our medical team. We had to do this to use the players efficiently. I am the one who knows these players. After it became 3-0, I had to take risks. There will be a much different Fenerbahçe in the return leg."
