Jose Mourinho's assessment of the Eyüpspor draw

In the 17th week of the Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 away against Eyüpspor.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho said, "We put in a poor performance. We didn't play well. We performed below our level. We lost the ball too many times. We made mistakes that could be called stupid. The match itself was also poor. How much was actually played? What was the quality of play? After what happened in the tunnel, the second half became even more difficult for the referee."

It is difficult to be a referee in this country. I have worked in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain, and I have never seen anything like this. The performance we showed in the second half could have been enough for a win. Everyone on the pitch knows that you cannot be offside from a throw-in. At that moment, it was as if our players didn't know that. When we look at the match as a whole, it was a poor game. The referee was part of that. It wasn't a good match for anyone," he said.

Emphasizing his disappointment with the match, the Portuguese manager said, "It would not be right or ethical to talk about transfers after every bad result. If you have the opportunity to make at least one transfer that can raise the level, it is considered honest. We have the best resources in terms of economics and medical support. We need to give more. I am disappointed today."

There was also a poor performance from the referees. Please, Arda Turan and Eyüpspor, do not misunderstand me; they didn't perform well to get a result either. Referees can make two different decisions in the same situations. We know that these decisions mean points. I think if there had been a foreign referee today, after what happened in the tunnel, he either wouldn't have come out for the second half or he would have sent everyone home," he added.

Mourinho said the following regarding the events in the tunnel:

Whether we participate in the cup or not is also up in the air. Some teams play two matches at home, some teams play two matches away. If the club wants to participate, I would be very pleased.
