Jose Mourinho targets UEFA after the match
In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round, Fenerbahçe defeated Swiss side Lugano 4-3 away from home. The yellow-navy team's head coach, Jose Mourinho, reacted to UEFA's decision regarding the synthetic pitch.
In his post-match statement, Mourinho pointed out that the pitch was poor and said the following:
"I didn't want to talk about this yesterday; I didn't want it to be an excuse, and I didn't want my players to be affected. If we want to play high-level football, this synthetic pitch cannot handle it.
Because the dribbling of the ball and the flow of the ball were negatively affected. I don't understand why UEFA allows football to be played on this synthetic pitch.
I also don't understand why a good team like Lugano plays on this pitch. It doesn't produce a good result."
"WE CONCEDED 3 GOALS"
"There were 7 goals; people love goals. That's the fun part of this business, but we conceded 3 goals. I didn't like that. It wasn't fun. We conceded from a set piece; I didn't like it. On the second goal, we allowed a comfortable shot while sliding for the ball. The third goal was complicated and lacked fair play. The ball should have been given to us. That was also a factor."
TRANSFER MESSAGE
"I am happy with the work the club has done. When I came here, I didn't ask for any promises from anyone; I just wanted to do my best. The club offered me that. We had players who couldn't make it to the camp. I would like to thank our president, our management, and our sporting director for their efforts."
