Loris Karius's Beşiktaş confession: 'I had to sue the club'

Former Beşiktaş goalkeeper Loris Karius has made statements regarding his career.

Karius, who experienced a decline in his career after his error in the 2018 Champions League final played between Liverpool and Real Madrid (he was Liverpool's goalkeeper at the time), stated regarding this incident: "No matter what I did in recent years, it was never good enough to erase that night. It was quite difficult to recover after the Champions League final we lost against Real Madrid. It was very hard to forget that night. There were times even at other clubs when I felt it was a disadvantage for me."

BEŞİKTAŞ CONFESSION

Karius, who transferred to Beşiktaş on loan the same year following his error at Liverpool, spoke about his experience in Turkey: "I left Liverpool and went to Turkey, which led me into a really difficult period. A lot of things happened at a time when I was already emotionally fragile. There was a huge amount of chaos. I didn't receive my salary for five or six months and I had to sue the club. This is not something you love or want to do, but I really had no other choice."

The 31-year-old goalkeeper Karius, who transferred to Beşiktaş after Liverpool and played in 67 matches there, left the black-and-white team in March 2020 and returned to Liverpool.

Karius, who also played for teams such as Union Berlin and Newcastle United after Liverpool, has been without a club since July.
