Mehmet Büyükekşi breaks his silence following the incident-filled Trabzonspor - Fenerbahçe match

The events that took place after the Trabzonspor - Fenerbahçe match, played in the 30th week of the Süper Lig, continue to remain on the agenda.

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi, whose resignation is being awaited by the sports community following a series of incidents in Turkish football, spoke about the incident-filled match for the first time.

Büyükekşi attended an iftar dinner hosted by the TFF, with the participation of all TFF Board Members. Thanking all professional clubs for their attendance at the invitation, President Büyükekşi said, "At the beginning of the month of Ramadan, we wanted to come together with the valuable representatives of our clubs for an iftar dinner. Tomorrow, we are traveling to Hungary with our National Team. We will play a match against the Hungarian National Team on Friday. Later, we will move on to Vienna, and we will play against the Austrian National Team on Tuesday."

TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi also spoke about the match played between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe on March 17.

Büyükekşi said the following:

"During these blessed days, unfortunately, we encountered events we did not want to see in the match played over the weekend. We extend our best wishes to both of our clubs. Turkey is in great need of friendship, love, and brotherhood during this blessed month of Ramadan. We all need to be more careful about this in all professional and amateur leagues. Fans pay great attention to the words that come out of our mouths, and we guide them. Therefore, we need to be more careful in our rhetoric. Ultimately, football is a spectacle, a game that calls for friendship and brotherhood. It is a game that should be enjoyed. Our request from you is that we must invite our youth, especially in this regard, to be vigilant against hooliganism, violence, and terror. My Board of Directors and I are pleased to be with you tonight. We thank you all for coming, thank you very much. May God accept your prayers."
