Mehmet Büyükekşi: 'Let it be a beautiful match in the spirit of fair play'

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi stated that they hope the Turkcell Super Cup match to be played tomorrow between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe will take place in the spirit of fair play.

Last season's Süper Lig champion Galatasaray and Ziraat Turkish Cup winner Fenerbahçe will face each other tomorrow in the Turkcell Super Cup. The match will be played at Al-Awwal Park (King Saud University Stadium) in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

The delegation, which arrived in Riyadh as guests of the TFF for the match, has reached the hotel where they will be staying.

The delegation included Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, former Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, former Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi, TFF Board members, Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin, AK Party Konya Deputy Mehmet Baykan, Kocaeli Deputy Saffet Sancaklı, A National Football Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella, former A National Team Head Coach Mircea Lucescu, and former national football players Mehmet Topal, Gökhan Gönül, Selçuk Şahin, and Selçuk İnan.

Speaking to members of the press, Büyükekşi said, "We want it to be a beautiful match in the spirit of fair play. Hopefully, good football will be played. Since there is a trophy at stake, there will definitely be a winner. May it be a match where the one who deserves it wins."

Former national football player and deputy Saffet Sancaklı commented, "I wish success to both of our teams. The cup in the 100th year of our Republic has a special meaning. The derby played last week did not satisfy anyone, but this time it will be very different. It will be played as a single match. One team has to win. The other was a league match. I am expecting a beautiful and high-scoring match tomorrow."
