Montella experiences a first with the National Team

The Turkey National Football Team faced Hungary in a friendly match as part of their preparations for the 2024 European Championship.

The match, played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, was won 1-0 by the host nation, Hungary, with a penalty goal scored by Szoboszlai in the 48th minute.

Turkey will play its second friendly match away against Austria on March 26.

FIRST DEFEAT UNDER MONTELLA'S MANAGEMENT

The Crescent-Stars experienced their first defeat under the management of Italian head coach Vincenzo Montella against Hungary.

Having played 4 matches under Montella, Turkey encountered defeat in its 5th match. The national team had previously secured 3 wins and 1 draw in the 4 matches played under the Italian coach.

The Crescent-Stars played their first match under Montella away against Croatia and left the pitch with a 1-0 victory. In the second match played under the Italian coach's guidance, the national team defeated Latvia 4-0 in Konya. Turkey beat Germany 3-2 away in the third match played with Vincenzo Montella.

Playing their fourth match under Montella away against Wales, the Crescent-Stars left the pitch with a 1-1 draw.

The national team also lost its first match played in 2024.

CAN UZUN WORE THE NATIONAL TEAM JERSEY FOR THE FIRST TIME

Can Uzun, who was invited to the National Team squad for the first time, entered the game in the second half of the Hungary match.

Montella sent young forward Can Uzun onto the pitch in the 77th minute of the match, replacing Zeki Çelik.

RIDVAN YILMAZ COULD NOT CONTINUE

National footballer Rıdvan Yılmaz was injured in the 26th minute of the match and could not continue playing.

Rıdvan, who remained on the ground holding his upper left thigh, came to the sidelines after treatment. Montella sent Mert Müldür onto the pitch in the 27th minute to replace Rıdvan.
