Montella's comments on the draw

A National Football Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella evaluated Group F, where they were drawn alongside Portugal, Czechia, and the winner of the Path C play-offs (Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan, or Luxembourg) for the 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024), stating that every match in the tournament could be difficult. Montella made statements to the press following the draw ceremony held in Hamburg, Germany.

Stating that they did not have any specific preferences regarding the draw, Montella said, "From this point on, what we will do is study our opponents in detail." When reminded that the draw was similar to the group Turkey was in during EURO 2008, Montella commented, "When Portugal and Czechia came out in the draw, it might remind one of EURO 2008. However, expectations and many other things can be very different here. Turkey entered the EURO 2008 draw from the fourth pot, and we all saw what happened in that tournament. Therefore, there can be unknown, unexpected, and unforeseen things here."

Stating that every match in major tournaments can be difficult, Montella said, "Thirty years have passed since my playing and coaching career began. In tournaments like these, every match is difficult, and the differences in strength between teams are quite small. I respect those who comment on social media, but these are my views." When asked, "Can we get our first official victory against Portugal?" Montella laughed and replied in Turkish, "God willing, whoever wins."
