National fencer Doruk Erolçevik becomes world champion
Competing in the Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships, Doruk Erolçevik defeated his Egyptian opponent Eslam Osama to become world champion.
At the Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships, which have been ongoing in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, since April 12, national fencer Doruk Erolçevik defeated his Egyptian opponent Eslam Osama 15-13 in the final of the cadet men's epee today to win the gold medal.
The athlete, who achieved another first by securing the first world-level ranking in men's epee, had previously become the first in Turkish fencing history to earn a European-level ranking in epee with the bronze medal he won at the Cadet and Junior Fencing European Championships held in Naples in recent months.
Doruk received his championship medal from the hands of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prof. Dr. Emrullah İşler.
