Number of teams in EuroLeague to increase

Turkish Airlines EuroLeague management reached an important decision at today's meeting. It was decided that the number of teams competing in the league will be increased to 20 starting from the 2025-26 season. EuroLeague management stated that this change is subject to the completion of official procedures.

The Board of Directors announced, "The proposal to expand the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to 20 teams starting from the 2025–26 season has been approved by the Board of Directors." It was also stated that initial assessments regarding future expansion scenarios were conducted.

With current EuroLeague team ALBA Berlin moving to the Basketball Champions League, 17 clubs are expected to remain in the league for the new season. New participants are expected to include EuroCup champion Hapoel Tel Aviv, Valencia, and Dubai BC.

Although the current league format will be maintained, more "double-game weeks" are planned due to the expanded calendar. These changes aim to balance the fixture list.
