Okan Buruk comments on the Sparta Prague matchup
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk evaluated their European journey and the UEFA Europa League matchup against Sparta Prague.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk made statements at the Boğaziçi University Sports Awards. The manager of the yellow-red team evaluated their European journey and the UEFA Europa League matchup against Sparta Prague.
Speaking about the Sparta Prague matchup, Buruk said: "We spent today very excitedly. Who will come, there are 8 candidates... You naturally choose among these teams, one cannot help but choose. They are here because they are a good team. They are here because they finished second in their Europa League group. One of these teams is Sparta Prague. They are leading their league with 2 draws and 1 defeat. They do not lose matches at home. They display a team game. They play with a 3-man defense. We always played against teams that played with a 4-man defense in the group. There are not many teams in Turkey that play with a 3-man defense, so it will be a new experience for us. What is important for us is to be able to stay focused."
Okan Buruk added: "Our goal is to strengthen our squad. Playing the first match at home will be an advantage if we play well, and a disadvantage if we don't. We aim to go far. We think there is a silver lining to us coming to the Europa League. We always talk about the final, these are currently a dream for us."
"I hope Turkish teams continue in Europe"
Continuing his remarks, Okan Buruk said: "There is an ambitious Galatasaray both in Turkey and in Europe. Both our and Fenerbahçe's European journey continues. I hope Turkish teams will continue in Europe."
