Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has reacted to Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho's remarks that "only Galatasaray does not receive cards in Turkey." Speaking to TV100, Buruk stated that with these comments, Mourinho aims to create psychological pressure on the team he views as his strongest rival in the championship race.
HE WANTS TO CREATE EXTRA PRESSURE
Buruk noted that Mourinho is attempting the same strategies he used at his previous clubs against Galatasaray this time, stating, "I know Jose Mourinho very well and I understand what he wants to achieve with his statements. He is doing exactly what he did at Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Roma. He is trying to start a psychological war against the opponent he sees as the strongest and create extra pressure. I won't take Mourinho's bait."
Stating that Mourinho had claimed in the first week of the league that Galatasaray received preferential treatment from referees, Buruk emphasized that he does not take this situation seriously and will not engage in unnecessary polemics. "Everyone should focus on their own team; that is better for everyone," said Buruk, adding that they will catch up during the 6th-week match where the two teams will face each other.
WHAT DID MOURINHO SAY?
Mourinho had claimed in the first week of the league that Galatasaray received preferential treatment from referees and said, "A Galatasaray player can punch another player in the face and not receive a card."
