Önder Özen responds to Beşiktaş managerial rumors

Beşiktaş Football Director Önder Özen has firmly denied rumors that Qarabag manager Gurban Gurbanov is among the candidates for the head coach position at the black-and-white club.

As the search for a new head coach continues at full speed ahead of the new season at Beşiktaş, Önder Özen, who was appointed as the football director, spoke for the first time regarding the claims appearing in the Azerbaijani press. Following reports that the black-and-white club was interested in Gurban Gurbanov, the experienced football figure issued a direct statement.

"There is no such matter on our agenda"

Speaking to the Azerbaijani outlet Teleqraf, Önder Özen stated that they have not made any contact with Gurbanov and used the following expressions:

"We have no interest or initiative regarding Gurban Gurbanov. Coach Gurban is a very valuable and successful manager. We have great respect for him, but there is currently no such matter on the agenda of the Beşiktaş club."
