Ortaylı on the Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe match: Suspending matches there is a serious proposal

Historian Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı evaluated the events that occurred after the Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe match.

Stating that the events cannot be explained by hooliganism alone, Ortaylı noted that suspending matches in Trabzon for a period is a serious proposal that should be considered.

"Taking a break from playing domestic matches in Trabzon for a while is a serious proposal. It does not appear that Trabzonspor officials and the city's leading figures have expressed an apology to the Fenerbahçe team with a respectful tone. There are also events and statements that our moral fabric cannot tolerate. Egemen Korkmaz, who previously played for Fenerbahçe and is now an assistant coach at Trabzonspor, also stormed the pitch. This is an ugly behavior that cannot be explained in any way."
