'Palestine' ban in England: To be sent to all clubs

The English Football Association (The FA) will send a letter to clubs instructing players not to use the phrase "from the river to the sea" on their social media accounts.

The federation's advisory decision for clubs came after Leicester City player Hamza Choudhury used the phrase "from the river to the sea" in a post he later deleted.

In a statement from federation sources reported in the press, it was stated: "Following careful consideration, we will be writing to all clubs to indicate that this phrase is offensive to many and should not be used by players in social media posts."

The statement added: "Should this phrase be used again by a player, we will seek guidance from the police on how we should behave and respond."

The phrase, which refers to the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, is used to support Palestine.
