President Erdoğan receives Fenerbahçe Sports Club delegation

Erdoğan recently received Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club President Hasan Arat, board members, and athletes. Following the meeting between the Beşiktaş delegation and President Erdoğan, another reception took place today.

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan this time received Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and the accompanying board members.

KOÇ PRESENTED A SIGNED JERSEY AS A GIFT

Erdoğan hosted the yellow-navy management.

During the reception, the president of the yellow-navy club, Ali Koç, presented President Erdoğan with a signed jersey.

Giving messages regarding football during the meeting, Erdoğan stated that they are happy to see Fenerbahçe's success as the success of Turkish sports.

Continuing his remarks, President Erdoğan emphasized that instead of petty arguments and atmospheres that cast a shadow over Turkish sports, viewers should be presented with an enjoyable football feast.

"Valuable executives of Fenerbahçe, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings. Welcome to the Presidential Complex. I am pleased to host you in our complex. With its 117-year history, millions of fans, and historic achievements, Fenerbahçe is one of the sources of pride for Turkish sports. Fenerbahçe, which has a history in its past, continues to be a source of pride for its fans and millions today. Like our other clubs, we have supported our Fenerbahçe in every need, and we have been proud and happy with its successes. Fenerbahçe will continue to make us proud from now on.

"WE MUST LEAVE PETTY ARGUMENTS BEHIND AND PRESENT A FOOTBALL FEAST TO VIEWERS"

I would like to express this point here. Our sports clubs are of course rivals to each other, but especially international successes are the success of all of us. With this understanding, we see the successes of our Fenerbahçe as the success of Turkish sports, and we take pride in them. It is important that we struggle to strengthen Turkish football. The 2024 European Football Championship gave us both hope and showed us that our job is not easy at all. I have no doubt that when we maintain the momentum we have gained, we will be in better places in the upcoming tournaments. The way to achieve these successes does not only go through material means. It is necessary to increase the quality of our leagues, their brand value, and especially the level of competition in the matches played. We must now leave behind petty arguments and the tense atmosphere that casts a shadow over our sports, and present a football feast to the viewers in the new season. We need this very much in the period we are in."

Regarding the yellow-navy team, President Erdoğan said, "I follow Fenerbahçe closely and try to watch their matches whenever I find time. Having started the season earlier due to the qualifying matches in Europe, Fenerbahçe has continued to successfully reflect its dynamism on the field since the first match. We would have liked to watch our Fenerbahçe, which has significantly strengthened its squad with a new coach and players and continues its path undefeated in the league, in the Champions League and experience that excitement again, but we were eliminated unfortunately. I believe that Fenerbahçe will make significant progress in the Europa League, which will start next week. I wish Fenerbahçe and our other clubs heartfelt success in European matches. I congratulate Ali Koç, who was re-elected as club president at the 90th Ordinary Congress held in June, and your board of directors. I wish each of you superior success from God," he said.

'WE ARE THE CLUB THAT SENT THE MOST ATHLETES TO THE PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES'

Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç thanked President Erdoğan for taking the time and receiving them.

Emphasizing that they have had a need to meet with President Erdoğan for a long time, Koç used the following expressions:

"For three Olympics, we have been the club that has provided the most athletes to the games by far, consecutively. This year we provided 27 athletes. After us, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality provided 11 athletes. At the same time, we are successful in both women's and men's basketball and volleyball, both domestically and internationally. We are champions in most of them, we win cups, and we see at least the semi-finals in Europe. Our women's basketball team became European champions twice in a row and brought the European Super Cup to our country for the first time. In other areas, whether it is medals or records, in table tennis, athletics, rowing, sailing, boxing, whatever sport we are active in, thank God it is going very well."
