Prison sentence requested for two Fenerbahçe players

The prosecution has announced its opinion in the case regarding the incidents that occurred following the Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe derby played last season. Prison sentence requested for two Fenerbahçe players

As part of the investigation conducted into the incidents that took place after the Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe derby played at Rams Park last season in the Süper Lig, a lawsuit was filed against players Jayden Quinn Oosterwolde, Mert Hakan Yandaş, Ertuğrul Karanlık, Hulusi Belgü, and Emre Kartal. Galatasaray Stadium Manager Ali Çelikkıran and the lawyers for the parties attended the hearing held at the Istanbul 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance.

PROSECUTION REQUESTS PRISON SENTENCE

Presenting their opinion on the merits during the hearing, the public prosecutor requested that the defendants be punished for the crimes of "intentional injury resulting in bone fracture or dislocation under unjust provocation" and "causing disorder in sports areas and damaging facilities."

The prosecutor requested a prison sentence ranging from 1 year and 3 months to 3 years, 4 months, and 15 days for each defendant.

COURT DATE POSTPONED

The court postponed the hearing to January 15, 2026, to allow the defense attorneys for the defendants to prepare their arguments against the prosecution's opinion.

DETAILS IN THE INDICTMENT

The indictment stated that Oosterwolde, Mert Hakan Yandaş, Ertuğrul Karanlık, Hulusi Belgü, and Emre Kartal are being tried with a request for prison sentences ranging from 2 years and 3 months to 6 years and 9 months for the crimes of "intentional injury resulting in bone fracture or dislocation" and "causing disorder in sports areas and damaging facilities."
