Response from Fenerbahçe to Dursun Özbek

Fenerbahçe Sports Club responded to the statements made by Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek via its social media account. The statement included the following: ''We do not expect Dursun Özbek or the Galatasaray management to maintain a competition that is sportsmanlike or within moral boundaries.''

Fenerbahçe's statement is as follows:

"We are making this statement due to certain remarks made yesterday by Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Özbek regarding our Club.

First of all, we would like to state that we do not expect Dursun Özbek or the current Galatasaray management to maintain a competition that is sportsmanlike or at least within moral boundaries.

The culture of the club in question is based not on sporting competition, but on being favored, protected, and treated with privilege.

However, it is clear that no matter how much it is protected and favored, this club remains in a dubious position in the public conscience.

The fact that, nearly 13 years after July 3, they are attempting to set up a new trap against our glorious Club using FETÖ tactics and methods is a legacy of their past character that remains today.

It appears that Dursun Özbek is confusing which Club was the direct target of FETÖ and which Club tried to benefit from this attack,

“attempting to be propped up by prayers and charity.”

We remind this individual once again from here;

Throughout its glorious history, Fenerbahçe has never erased players from championship posters, nor has it had to remove footage from documentaries.

We must remind them because, in the way they know best; instead of facing their shames and apologizing to society, they are trying to blame others for what they know to be their own actions in a planned manner, as they do in many other matters, through perception manipulation and lies.

For this reason, we do not evaluate the words uttered yesterday as "ravings of a madman" or "foolish expressions," but as the signal flare of a conscious trap.

We are speaking clearly here to everyone, especially Dursun Özbek, who thinks they can harm our Fenerbahçe with tricks they learned from a treacherous organization:

The fighting spirit and determination of our Fenerbahçe, which was the first to resist the treacherous FETÖ organization alone with its community and which choked their vile ambitions, continues just as it did on the first day.

As long as there are those who attempt this, every member of this glorious community will not refrain from fighting against the perpetrators of these vile attacks today with the same ambition as the first day, with the perseverance inherited from the past.

We believe in sporting competition and sportsmanlike struggle to the end.

At the same time, the DNA of our Club is formed by the fighting spirit of the War of Independence and the mission of upholding our national unity and values even under the most difficult conditions.

With this powerful strength that comes from our DNA, we are determined to make those who harbor treacherous ambitions regret their actions.
