Rıdvan Dilmen’s comments on İsmail Kartal after the derby

In the derby played during the 31st week of the Trendyol Super League, Galatasaray secured a clear 3-0 victory against Fenerbahçe at home, extending the point gap to seven as the league enters its final three weeks. Following the match, football commentator Rıdvan Dilmen expressed striking views regarding the encounter.

Stating that it is sad for Fenerbahçe to lose its hopes on the path to the championship, Dilmen said, “It is neither the first nor the last time Fenerbahçe has lost the championship, as they haven't won it for years. Of course, I am saddened that the championship was lost. However, I would have wanted İsmail Kartal to lose the championship with a Fenerbahçe team that was playing 6 points behind and was down to 10 men.”

"OUR EMBLEM DOES NOT DESERVE THIS"

Emphasizing that the derby score was a historic result, Dilmen included the following remarks: “Of course, we want them to be champions, but they went there under the same circumstances, the opponent was 6 points ahead, and we had all actually accepted it. But there was something about the team. When we look back at the past, I could give many examples, but I cannot give this one. Look, Galatasaray beat Fenerbahçe 5-1 at the Olympic Stadium. Fenerbahçe had 6-7 clear chances in that match. It ended with a historic score. I won't even get into the 4-3s or 4-1s from 3-0. Our emblem does not deserve this.”

"IF IT WERE İSMAİL KARTAL, GS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS COMFORTABLE"

Highlighting that technical staff choices are of great importance, Dilmen stated, “Let’s put these debates aside. Both İsmail Kartal and Aykut Kocaman are our friends. Furthermore, I claim that if it were İsmail Kartal, Galatasaray would not have been this comfortable and would not have been able to pass them.”

Touching upon management decisions, Dilmen expressed, “Let’s say Fenerbahçe sent Tedesco away this evening. They brought in İsmail Kartal or Aykut Kocaman. Would it be good or bad? One should not make the mistake that the Ali Koç administration made by calling for a congress in a panic.”

Pointing to the management mistakes that have been repeated in Fenerbahçe since the past, Dilmen said, “Wise Fenerbahçe supporters are those who have worked for Fenerbahçe for years without expecting anything in return. Do not make the mistake that Fenerbahçe has been making for years. You didn't bring Tedesco, you brought Jose Mourinho, and nothing happened. Even if Pep left City and came here, nothing would happen. It wouldn't happen in this current climate of Fenerbahçe.”

Discussing the importance of management intelligence in football, Dilmen shared the view, “Doesn't Okan Buruk have football intelligence? Doesn't Sergen Hoca? Don't I or İsmail Hoca have intelligence? The administrators should do what we cannot.”

Finally, stating that a roadmap must be prepared for the team’s future, Rıdvan Dilmen said, “Aykut and Oğuz were sent away from Fenerbahçe. It wasn't the right decision either. An emergency action plan is needed. The issue is not Mr. Sadettin. It is not another name. Let him invite wise figures to show Fenerbahçe the way.”
