Harsh criticism from Rıdvan Dilmen to İsmail Kartal: 'I would do anything, but I wouldn't take him off'

Fenerbahçe hosted Alanyaspor at home in the 25th week of the Süper Lig.

The Yellow-Navies, who finished the first half 1-0 down, took a 2-1 lead in the second half with goals from Tadic and Dzeko.

Loide Augusto stepped up in the 63rd minute to score his and his team's second goal, bringing the score to 2-2.

With this result, Fenerbahçe lost the lead and fell 2 points behind Galatasaray.

Following the match, Rıdvan Dilmen evaluated Fenerbahçe's performance on TV8.5 and also criticized manager İsmail Kartal.

Here are Rıdvan Dilmen's comments;

''HE TOOK POINTS AGAIN LAST SEASON''

"Fatih Tekke managed a 3-3 draw in Kadıköy last season despite not playing 4 of his key players, and he took points again. Today, he probably said, 'Even if we are going to lose, let's play as much as we can.'"

''EVERY SCORELINE HAPPENED IN THE MATCH''

"Honestly, I wouldn't have written 1 point for the Samsunspor match or this match in my book. Every scoreline happened today. They dropped 3 points at the start of the match. They caught the draw. They took the lead and had the 3 points. Then they got a draw again. The primary reason for this has been visible for 5 weeks. Despite having very experienced players, everyone is panicking."

''YOU HAVE TO READ THE GAME WELL''

"If the score had remained 2-1 for the rest of the game, the manager would have been showered with praise. You prepare before the match, but the initiative is with the players during the game. As the leader, you have to read the game well."

''THERE IS A PROBLEM IN DEFENSE''

"Djiku and Çağlar were together in Antalya. Çağlar played as the left center-back. What happened today? Çağlar played as the right center-back. Looking at the goals conceded and the balls played behind the defense, there is a problem."

''YOU ARE TAKING OFF YOUR TALLEST MAN''

"Managers send center-backs to play as strikers. You go and take your tallest man off the pitch in the 86th minute. Who also scored with a header. It's the wrong move."

''THE MANAGER'S DECISION IS WRONG''

"In matches where he took Dzeko off, the game was going according to that. It was right to take Dzeko off. But it was wrong to take him off in this match. Also, I am sure that the striker in the manager's heart is Batshuayi."

''I WOULD DO ANYTHING, I WOULDN'T TAKE HIM OFF''

"I would do anything, but I would never take Dzeko off while the score is a draw. Even if the manager said 'I'm tired,' I would go and say, 'Please, just manage, please.' When you start mindlessly pumping long balls into the box, you are taking off the man who would be effective."

''PROBLEM-SOLVING PLAYERS''

"If you are taking Cengiz off because you are afraid he might get a yellow card, that is the wrong decision. Cengiz and Dzeko are problem-solving players. Sometimes, you need to use a player like Dzeko not just according to the rules of football, but also in chaos football. You cross to a 1.90m man, he wins a set-piece, he heads the ball, he does something. You try to produce something."

''THE MANAGER WAS AFRAID OF THE OPPONENT''

"While the match was a draw, the Fenerbahçe team was afraid of the opponent's attacks and switched from two strikers to one. The forgotten Kent came on. This is a substitution you should make after going 3-2 up. I couldn't understand the manager's decisions."

''A CLEAN SLATE IS NEEDED''

''Fenerbahçe needs to lift its head and look ahead. If they keep looking at the same place, they will make mistakes. They must open a new, clean slate.''
