Samsunspor reacts to referee decisions: Efforts were wasted

Samsunspor issued a written statement regarding the referee decisions in the match they played away against Gaziantep FK in the 7th week of the Trendyol Super League, which included the following statements:

"In the match played today between our club and Gaziantep FK, the erroneous decisions made by the match referee not only completely changed the course of the game but also caused the efforts of our technical team and players to be wasted.

While the match was continuing in its normal flow, our player Cherif Ndiaye was sent off in the 45+5th minute without any justification. When the relevant position is examined carefully, it is clearly seen that the opposing team player actually stepped on our player's foot.

Despite this, the fact that our player, whose foot was stepped on, was punished with a red card is an unacceptable error and an extremely grave decision. The fact that the foul committed against our player Zeki Yavru before the goal was ignored is another major referee error that directly affected the course of the match. Furthermore, and quite interestingly, the match referee used all discretionary powers in favor of the opposing team without exception throughout the match.

We saw that the discretionary power was not used in favor of our team in almost a single position. This set of wrong decisions has directly affected not only the result of today's match but also the highly important Fenerbahçe match we will play next week. As Samsunspor Football Club, we hereby inform the public that we will be closely following all referee decisions from now on and that we will make the necessary initiatives before the Turkish Football Federation regarding wrong and erroneous decisions."
