Sergen Yalçın evaluates Beşiktaş's defeat to Göztepe: 'He might be waiting for a phone call'

Beşiktaş hosted Göztepe today in the 13th week of the Süper Lig. Göztepe won the match played at Tüpraş Stadium 4-2. Sergen Yalçın made statements following the match. Yalçın said of Beşiktaş manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, "He might be waiting for a phone call from the president and the board!"

Yalçın's statements are as follows:

"Is Giovanni van Bronckhorst aware of the community he has joined? Everyone knows you need to be in the title race in March and April. He is inexperienced, and because he lost the thread, he has also lost control. Someone should have warned him about what to say after the match! These statements create trouble in any community! Do you know how many championships Beşiktaş has? Right now, the manager doesn't know what he is doing. He might be waiting for a phone call from the president and the board! You can say these things while working at an Anatolian club, but you cannot say these things while managing Beşiktaş! He previously said things like, 'My suitcase is in my hand, those who don't like it shouldn't come to the match.' At Beşiktaş, the fans are everything; you cannot take the fans on! You can't do this at Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, or Galatasaray! The ties have been broken now, that is very clear!"

When asked, "Would you write a prescription for Beşiktaş?" Sergen Yalçın commented: "Let me write a prescription for the Beşiktaş football team. I'll even write it for free. If they had told me to provide consulting from the outside or do squad engineering, I would have done it. I would have done it for free. I would have made this club at least 50-100 million in profit through that. I am not saying this to ask for a job." 

SERGEN YALÇIN: "BEŞİKTAŞ NEEDS TO UNDERGO RENOVATIONS"

Regarding the first thing that needs to be done for Beşiktaş, Sergen Yalçın said: "Beşiktaş needs to undergo renovations. For example, they said they would make pinpoint transfers; don't do it. Don't do it right now. This team is not a bad team. This team started with victories, they beat Galatasaray 5-0. It means something is going wrong. I think squad engineering is important. I think the probability of me being wrong about a player I see is one percent. Our lives have come from here."
