Shocking confessions from Jesus about Ali Koç

Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus is currently working at Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal following his one-season stint at the helm of Fenerbahçe. In an interview with the Portuguese press outlet Record, the experienced coach made striking remarks regarding his time with the Yellow-Navies.

Jesus began by saying, "Despite all the setbacks, we were two points behind the leader with 12 weeks left in the league. We hosted Beşiktaş, and I was in the stands due to a suspension. We finished the first half leading 1-0, and right at the beginning of the second half, an opposing player conceded a penalty and was shown a red card. Enner Valencia missed a chance that would have ended the game, and the team fell apart from that moment on."

Describing the breaking point in the second half, Jesus emphasized that these events significantly impacted their championship chances.

Jesus expressed what he went through as follows: "The championship started to slip through our fingers that day. When the match ended, I went down to the locker room, and the president was inside yelling at the players. I stopped him; he might be the boss of the club, but I was the boss of the locker room, so I told him to stop yelling and leave the room.

He looked at me and said, 'I want you to come to my office tomorrow at 11 o'clock.' I said 'Okay' and immediately informed my technical staff and started packing up. The next morning, when I entered his office thinking I would be fired, he came to me with a new contract offer."

Jesus revealed that despite President Koç offering him a new contract toward the end of his tenure at Fenerbahçe, he preferred to wait until the end of the season. The experienced manager stated, "I didn't accept it and continued until the end of the season when my contract expired. I gave him (Ali Koç) the only trophy he has won in his 7-year presidency. I also took the team to the Europa League quarterfinals."
