Sivasspor reacts to referee: 'You cannot silence us'

Sivasspor, which lost 1-0 to Başakşehir in front of its own fans in the 36th week of the Süper Lig, has reacted to the refereeing performance.

Speaking after the match, Sivasspor Press Spokesperson Gökhan Karagöl stated in his remarks that those who want to know, hear, and see what Turkish football and its referees have become tonight should watch this match.

Arguing that the decisions made by the referee in the first half of the match were completely biased, Karagöl claimed that the incident involving Rey Manaj should have resulted in a red card.

Claiming that they conceded a goal from a ball that had gone out for a goal kick, Karagöl said, "The cancellation of our legitimate goal and the red card given to our player. In the second half, a penalty not called in another incident involving Rey Manaj. The decisions made in favor of the opponent in all the duels throughout the game; no matter how you look at it, this evening was a complete disaster."

"YOU CANNOT SILENCE US"

Calling on the Turkish Football Federation and the Central Referee Board, Karagöl stated the following:

"We will see the grades you give this referee after this match. We will also see what decisions you make regarding this referee. This referee was the same one who slaughtered us in the Fenerbahçe match in the first half of the season. We came out and spoke after that match too; you gave us a penalty, but you cannot silence us. We will never let Sivasspor's rights be trampled on anywhere. Either they do this job properly and as it deserves, or they should quit and not do it at all. VAR referees, your names are known, and what you do in every match is known. You turned the match around with similar decisions in the first-half Başakşehir match as well, and you ensured the necessary 3 points went to the necessary places. Enough, stop messing with us; those who mess with us will eventually face divine justice. There is justice in this business."

"SUCH A DISGRACE IS UNACCEPTABLE"

Emphasizing that referees should treat every team equally and fairly, Karagöl said, "Such a disgrace is unacceptable; how do these men go home after the match and sleep comfortably?"

Stating that Turkish football is the loser, Karagöl expressed that foreign VAR referees have arrived and that Turkish referees need to pull themselves together.

Stating that he should not be penalized for these remarks, Karagöl demanded that the institutions that deserve to be penalized should be punished.

"BE FAIR, CALL WHAT YOU SEE"

Arguing that disgraces have been experienced in Turkish football this year, Karagöl said:

"The people responsible for this are also clear. Be fair, call what you see, do not be afraid, and do not be involved in other agendas. This is the heart of Anatolia; no one should play games with Sivasspor. The situation that Turkish football and Turkish refereeing are in this year is clear. What connections should we draw? All the disgraces are out in the open. Let someone who understands football watch this match for 90 minutes, and they will make comments 100 times harsher than mine. Everyone will do their job; if you are a referee, you will do your refereeing. You will not wear a yellow jersey; you will wear a different jersey. They did everything they could to take us out of the match, and we fought like lions in the second half with 10 men. We are not interested in whose agenda is what; we are interested in the situation our club is in. We don't just shout 'enough' with a weak voice. They will think not 10, but 100 times before making a decision about us. Where do they leave their consciences when they come here?"

Expressing that they are not against matches being officiated by foreign referees, Karagöl said, "You see the state of Turkish football and Turkish referees. A match cannot be slaughtered to this extent. How will Turkish football develop? Which match you watch do you actually enjoy?"
