Spain secures big win against Saudi Arabia

In the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group H match played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Spain displayed an effective performance against Saudi Arabia and secured a comfortable 4-0 victory. Spain, considered one of the favorites of the tournament, thus increased their points tally to four.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute, recording his first goal in the World Cup. Mikel Oyarzabal then extended the lead with goals in quick succession in the 21st and 24th minutes. In the second half of the match, Saudi Arabian defender Hassan Altambakti sent the ball into his own net, resulting in Spain's fourth goal.

Having drawn goalless with Cape Verde in the first week of the group, Spain reached four points after two matches with this result. The Spaniards will face Uruguay in the final match of the group.

On the Saudi Arabian side, there was no joy of victory after the second consecutive match. Saudi Arabia, which collected one point against Uruguay in the group opener, finished this week without points, keeping their total at one. They will face off against Cape Verde in their final test in the group.
