Statement from Galatasaray camp after the derby: Let's focus on our work!

Galatasaray Board of Directors Press Spokesperson Rıza Morova made a post on his social media account.

Rıza Morova said, ''A match is played between two teams; some call it a derby, some call it an eternal rivalry, but in reality, matches between these 2 teams have moved out of the “eternal” rivalry category decades ago.

An executive of another club in the same city, who works at and is therefore under the command of a senior executive of a club in the same city, makes statements far from the truth, driven by the pain and embarrassment of the defeat suffered, directed at the country's largest and most deep-rooted Sports Club''

Why would a person make these statements? To curry favor with their boss, who is saddened by the defeat? To look good to their own fans? Out of jealousy, out of unconsciousness? Anyway, let's focus on our work''.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

It emerged that a dispute took place in the VIP tribune where club executives were located due to a Beşiktaş post made by Galatasaray's corporate social media account following the derby played last night.

Immediately after the final whistle of the match, an 18-second video was shared from Galatasaray's social media accounts. In the video, a plucked eagle was listening to the song "İnleyen nağmeler" on a yellow-navy blue swing.

According to what Beşiktaş Football Branch Manager and Press Spokesperson Feyyaz Uçar conveyed in his post-match press conference, Beşiktaş President Hasan Arat, who saw this post, reacted to the Galatasaray executives and demanded it be deleted.

Evaluating the events and Beşiktaş's reaction, Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk said, "We were chatting with President Hasan Arat and our Galatasaray board members who came to the match while in the protocol area. Then Beşiktaş Executive Burak Aslan came to us and showed the post.

He asked 'What is this', I said 'A social media post'. Hasan Arat said, 'Take this down or we will respond in kind'. I said, 'Mr. President, a social media post does not get taken down, but your fans insulted our founding president Ali Sami Yen for hours. If an apology is to be made, we should be apologized to because of Ali Sami Yen'."
