Statement from Mehmet Büyükekşi regarding Abdullah Avcı
Following claims that Abdullah Avcı would replace Stefan Kuntz as the head coach of the A National Team after the Armenia match, TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi has issued a statement. Stating that the claims do not reflect the truth, Büyükekşi said, "We are currently neither searching for a coach nor having any such discussions."
Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi has responded to claims that A National Football Team Head Coach Stefan Kuntz would be dismissed and replaced by Abdullah Avcı.
BÜYÜKEKŞİ DENIES
Speaking to journalist Candaş Tolga Işık, President Büyükekşi emphasized that the reason for Avcı's visit to the TFF's facilities in Riva was different, stating, "Abdullah Avcı came to Riva for a Central Referee Committee (MHK) conference that had been planned days in advance. The matter has not the slightest connection to the National Team. Furthermore, we are currently neither searching for a coach nor having any such discussions."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following the A National Team's 1-1 draw with Armenia in their fifth match of the EURO 2024 Qualifiers Group D, it was alleged that the federation would part ways with Stefan Kuntz and replace the German coach with Abdullah Avcı. Avcı's visit to the TFF Riva Hasan Doğan National Teams Camp and Training Facilities had fueled these claims.
