Statement from Okan Buruk on Hakan Çalhanoğlu! Why didn't the transfer happen?
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk made important statements regarding the transfer process of Hakan Çalhanoğlu.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk shared details about the attempts to sign Hakan Çalhanoğlu during his appearance on NOW TV. Buruk stated that Çalhanoğlu showed great desire and made sacrifices to come to Galatasaray. However, he explained that the transfer did not materialize because Inter did not want to let the player go.
Buruk said, "Hakan Çalhanoğlu was also a player we really wanted. He is a huge Galatasaray fan. He made great sacrifices to come. We made another attempt in the final week, but Inter said they did not want to release him. They said it would only happen if a figure well above the normal was offered. We made such an attempt," he said.
INTER'S EXPECTATIONS
Okan Buruk noted that Inter had high expectations for Hakan Çalhanoğlu, which made the transfer difficult. "İlkay made sacrifices from his salary. Hakan did too, but his club had very high expectations. If Inter had given him to us, they might have needed to spend 40-45 to replace him. He is a very important player. That is why the operation was difficult for us," he stated.
REASON FOR THE TRANSFER NOT HAPPENING
Buruk emphasized that despite attempts made on the final day of the transfer window, Inter did not want to let the player go, which is why the transfer did not take place. "The reason Hakan Çalhanoğlu did not join was that it was the final day of the transfer window and Inter would not release him. I don't think anything will change," he concluded.
