Samsunspor Club has issued a statement regarding posts on social media following the Galatasaray match.
In the statement, the phrase "Throw mud, let it stick" stood out, and it was announced that legal proceedings have been initiated against individuals and social media accounts making insinuations such as match-fixing, bribery, or throwing games.
Here is the statement from Samsunspor;
"Dear Samsunspor Community and All Our Devoted Fans,
Following the Galatasaray A.Ş. match played yesterday, unfair and ugly accusations exceeding the bounds of decency have been made consciously and systematically on social media with the aim of harming our Club and our Community.
It should be known that; all our football players are valuable to our Club. 'The Samsunspor jersey is sacred' and our Club represents the Crest with Atatürk and its values. The athletes who wear our jersey compete with this awareness, reflecting our Club's values on the pitch.
As long as our President, Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım, who always defends 'Clean and Fair' football, is at Samsunspor, none of our athletes can ever engage in non-football actions or favor an opponent; and the necessary actions are taken immediately against those who do not comply with these principles.
As our President, Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım, emphasized, 'Athletes who come to Samsunspor come with their talent and stay at this club with their character.'
The 'Honorable Samsunspor Club and Community,' which has a pristine history, does not choose matches or opponents and always stands at an equal distance to everyone.
Our lawyers have initiated the necessary legal process against individuals and social media accounts that act with the logic of 'Throw mud, let it stick' and make insinuations such as match-fixing, bribery, or throwing games.
In the face of these unfair, ugly accusations and the social media operation conducted against our Club and our players; we invite our Community and all our fans to stand behind our players and the Crest with Atatürk.
This is a long road, we will succeed together!"
