Statement from the TFF regarding 'Court of Cassation members'
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced that members of the Court of Cassation are not being permitted to serve on the TFF's new boards.
The following statement was issued by the TFF regarding the matter:
"As the new administration of the Turkish Football Federation, our goal is to bring peace and brotherhood to Turkish football and to ensure its successes are recognized internationally. The expectation of the Turkish sports community, our fans, and our clubs from our federation is the establishment of a 'fair and reliable' environment in football.
In line with this goal, we have adopted the principle of remaining impartial and equidistant to everyone. With this understanding, the new administration of the Turkish Football Federation works with one face turned toward our long-suffering fans, one toward our clubs, and one toward justice.
With this mission, we have formed our boards consisting of expert and professional names who will contribute to the brand value of Turkish football. Our board members have been selected from individuals who have proven their experience and competence.
As everyone acknowledges, Turkish football has very important issues that need to be resolved, and the support of all our stakeholders and all our institutions is of critical importance in solving these issues. The support of our country's deep-rooted institutions is also of great importance for the successful continuation of this process. We believe that with the well-intentioned attitudes and contributions of our institutions, we will hopefully overcome these issues.
On this occasion, we feel it is our duty to share with the public an obstacle that we believe will hinder our work.
As is known to the public, we appointed legal experts serving at the Presidency of the Court of Cassation, our country's distinguished institution that will protect 'justice, reliability, and the rule of law' in football, as members of our boards. However, the honorable President of the Court of Cassation is not permitting members of the Court of Cassation to serve on the new boards of the Turkish Football Federation, 'without providing any justification'.
Yet, in the past, many individuals from the Court of Cassation and other judicial bodies have served on our federation's boards. The aforementioned obstacle, a decision that could be perceived as a 'double standard and injustice', will damage the reputation of the Court of Cassation, from which we expect to ensure justice. Our requests for meetings have remained inconclusive; however, as a Federation, we believe that this situation stems from a misunderstanding and a lack of communication, and we believe that the issue will be resolved as a result of our attempts to meet with the Presidency of the Court of Cassation.
The Turkish Football Federation has always shown respect for our country's deep-rooted institutions. Our nation is hopeful about the new administration of the Turkish Football Federation. We expect our institutions to provide support so that Turkish football can be carried further."
