Support for Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray from political parties!
Political party leaders have issued statements following the crisis caused by authorities regarding the Super Cup match scheduled to be played in Saudi Arabia.
Political party leaders have made statements following the crisis sparked by Saudi authorities regarding Atatürk posters ahead of the Super Cup final between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, which was planned to be played in Saudi Arabia.
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who was the first to react to the incident, said, "Not accepting the disrespect shown to the Turkish Nation and Atatürk and not taking the field would be the attitude that suits you."
Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce supported the clubs by saying, "Do not take a single step back, we are with you!"
Main opposition leader and Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel stated, "We had said that Turkey's Super Cup Final would not be played in Saudi Arabia. You did not listen. Information is now coming in that those who could not tolerate the banner featuring the words of our founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Riyadh will also not allow the National Anthem. We stand behind our clubs. We warn the authorities; put an end to this farce!"
İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener also shared a post saying, "The values of the Republic of Turkey cannot be made a subject of debate for the Saudis or any other country! There is no power in this world that can or will prevent us from commemorating our Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk!"
İYİ Party Head of Political Affairs Oktay Vural posted, "The decision not to allow Atatürk banners and t-shirts at the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray Super Cup match to be played in Saudi Arabia is a disrespect to the Turkish Nation. No one can ever make Atatürk a subject of negotiation. Those who govern our state must take initiatives before Saudi Arabia to ensure this disrespect is ended."
In his second statement of the day, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said, "Saudi Arabian authorities are not allowing our clubs to take the field with Atatürk t-shirts for the Super Cup match in Saudi Arabia! We support our clubs' decision not to play the match. We will not forget those who caused this shame for Turkey."
