Support for Halil Umut Meler from Abdullah Avcı: 'I hope that...'

Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı has issued a message condemning the attack by Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca on FIFA-licensed referee Halil Umut Meler.

Following the Ankaragücü vs. Çaykur Rizespor match, which ended in a 1-1 draw during the 15th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı released a condemnation message regarding the physical assault by Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca on the match referee, Halil Umut Meler.

In his statement, Avcı said, "I condemn the attack on our FIFA referee Halil Umut Meler and extend my best wishes for a speedy recovery to him and his family. I hope that the effort and mission we have undertaken to make football more beautiful will yield results, and that dark and sad football evenings like this one will never be experienced again."
