Surprise decision from Spartak Moscow: Cuesta transfer cancelled
The Russian club, which had reached an agreement with Galatasaray for the transfer, backed out of the Carlos Cuesta deal at the last minute. The Colombian player received the news in Moscow, where he had traveled to sign the contract.
Carlos Cuesta, who was signed by Galatasaray last season for a transfer fee of 8 million Euros but fell short of expectations, was preparing to leave the yellow-reds.
The Colombian center-back had reached an agreement in principle with the Russian side Spartak Moscow. However, an unexpected development occurred during the transfer process.
TRANSFER CANCELLED AT THE LAST MINUTE
According to a report by the Russian press outlet Championat; Spartak Moscow has made its final decision regarding Galatasaray defender Carlos Cuesta. The red-and-whites have decided to abandon this transfer. The reasons for Spartak's rejection of Cuesta have not yet been disclosed.
It was reported that Galatasaray was demanding a transfer fee of 6.5 million Euros plus 2 million Euros in bonuses for Cuesta. Championat reporter Andrey Pankov stated that even though Cuesta spent a few days in Moscow, the deal for this transfer has been completely cancelled.
