TFF decision on foreign referees

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced that it will appoint foreign Video Assistant Referees (VAR) for important matches from the 32nd week of the Süper Lig until the end of the season. This decision was reached following negotiations with UEFA and the football federations of five European countries.

The following statement was issued by the TFF:

"As a result of the Turkish Football Federation's negotiations with UEFA and the football federations of 5 European countries, foreign Video Assistant Referees (VAR) will be appointed for critical matches of the week from the 32nd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig until the end of the season.

The request for Video Assistant Referees (VAR) made by the TFF to the football federations of Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Portugal—all of which have top-tier European leagues—has been accepted by the respective federations.

In matches where a foreign Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is on duty, the language of communication will be Turkish and English. Therefore, an AVAR, AVAR 2, and VAR Support who can communicate in English will serve alongside the Video Assistant Referee (VAR)."

The matches for which a foreign Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be appointed in the 32nd week of the Süper Lig are as follows:

MKE Ankaragücü - Gaziantep Futbol Kulübü A.Ş.

Vavacars Fatih Karagümrük - Fenerbahçe A.Ş.

Corendon Alanyaspor - Galatasaray A.Ş.
