TFF Fair Play Awards find their winners

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced the winners of the October 2023 period for the TFF Fair Play Awards, which are organized to promote Fair Play, an indispensable element of sports, and to raise awareness.

The TFF Fair Play and Social Responsibility Committee decided at a meeting held last month that the Süper Lig awards would be announced to the public on the official TFF website every month. It was also announced that the awards for the 1st League would be determined through a general evaluation during the mid-season break and at the end of the season.

The Süper Lig awards and the 1st League Fair Play awards will be presented at gala ceremonies to be held in January and May with the participation of the Turkish football family. As a result of the evaluations, the winners in the categories of Most Gentlemanly Coach, Most Gentlemanly Fan, Most Gentlemanly Footballer, and Most Gentlemanly Executive, along with the reasons for their awards, are as follows:

MOST GENTLEMANLY NURİ ŞAHİN

Nuri Şahin was deemed worthy of this award due to his sportsmanship, respectful and exemplary behavior toward other football stakeholders regardless of the score in his pre- and post-match statements during the period he began his coaching career after ending his successful playing career. Additionally, his dedication of his vacation months outside of the football seasons to social responsibility projects was also taken into account.

MOST GENTLEMANLY FAN AWARD TO GALATASARAY

The 3D choreography performed before the Galatasaray - Beşiktaş match played on October 21, 2023, featured the theme of Republic Day, offering inclusive content not only for Galatasaray but for all of Turkey. They were deemed worthy of the award for receiving applause from everyone, including away fans in the stands, and for uniting the stadium and viewers at home with this organization.

MOST GENTLEMANLY FOOTBALLER MUSLERA

During the Galatasaray - Beşiktaş derby, a potential major injury was prevented as a result of an intervention that took into account the risk of injury to opposing player Valentin Rosier. Fernando Muslera, who displayed behavior exemplary of the Fair Play spirit, was deemed worthy of the "Most Gentlemanly Footballer" award.

MOST GENTLEMANLY EXECUTIVE AWARD TO FENERBAHÇE SPORTS CLUB

During a period when the Hatayspor team was affected by the earthquake disaster, Fenerbahçe was deemed worthy of the "Most Gentlemanly Executive" award due to the tolerance and hospitality it showed, its support for social responsibility projects, and its contributions to football.

Furthermore, it was stated that the A National Women's Team was also appreciated for the sportsmanship they showed by giving flowers to their opponents and taking a group photo when they took the field with a "Peace at Home, Peace in the World" banner during the match against Luxembourg played in Çorum on October 31, 2023.
