TFF issues default defeat ruling

The Turkish Football Federation has announced the decisions of the Professional Football Discipline Committee (PFDK) via its official website.

Sakaryaspor, the home team in the 1st League match played on Monday, September 29, against Sivasspor, had been referred to the PFDK for violating the foreign player rule.

The PFDK announced that Sakaryaspor has been declared a 3-0 loser by default due to the rule violation.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the 1st League, clubs are permitted to include a maximum of 8 foreign players on the match squad list, as specified in the first paragraph of the article titled Player Eligibility, provided that no more than 6 of them are on the field at any given time during the match.

In the Sakaryaspor squad, where Jakub Szumski, Kakuta, Kolovetsios, and Vukovic started in the first 11, Ben Yedder entered the game in the 62nd minute, followed by Kobiljar in the 75th minute. 

With Akuazaoku replacing Burak Çoban in the 82nd minute of the match, Sakaryaspor had 7 foreign players on the field simultaneously.

RESIGNATION DECISION NOT ACCEPTED

Following this incident, Sakaryaspor head coach Serhat Sütlü had stated that he took responsibility and decided to resign.

Sütlü announced that his resignation was not accepted and that he would continue his duties at the request of the management due to the ongoing congress process.

Regarding the matter, Sütlü stated, "Due to the foreign player rule violation that occurred in recent days, I took responsibility and submitted my resignation to our club, but our board of directors did not accept this resignation. Due to the congress process that Sakaryaspor is currently undergoing, I will continue to remain at my post in line with the wishes of our management. Furthermore, I would like to inform the public that I have also submitted my resignation letter dated October 12 to the management in order to pave the way for our new management that will take office."
